Giga Content ready for kickoff: The FIFA World Cup on TV2 and
Canal9
June 11. 2010
While Denmark and 31 other national teams are preparing for their
fixtures in South Africa we at GigaContent have been busy supplying
the technology that will provide Danish football fans with an
unsurpassed World Cup experience - including live broadcast images
in full HD. All of 53 of a total of 64 World Cup matches will be
sent over GigaContent's network.
GigaContent will deliver gigabit connections from the Royal
Theatre Playhouse at St. Annae Square in Copenhagen to TV2's
broadcast facility in Odense starting from the opening game Friday
the 11th June and continueing throughout the tournament. TV2 has
chosen to broadcast World Cup coverage from a brand new and
dedicated studio in the foyer area at the Playhouse, and will be
producing a series of daily World Cup programs, including World Cup
news, interviews and analysis every evening from approx. 22:00
hours.
Also Canal9 - which will broadcast 21 World Cup matches - will use
GigaContents services. The TV-signal from South Africa will land at
the DR (Danis Radio) main facility in Ørestad, after which a
GigaContent one gigabit connection will send the live images on to
Canal9's broadcast facility and World Cup studio in Østerbro in
Copenhagen. Giga Content has also ensured that Canal9's live
coverage of the 21 World Cup matches will be transmitted to
Canal9's main facility in Stockholm, so that Swedish football fans
also have something to look forward to.
GigaContent is keeping our fingers crossed for Danish team - and
we wish everyone an excellent and enjoyable World Cup!
