Millions watched Denmark beat Sweden via GigaContent

Millions of football fans in Denmark and Sweden watched Saturday's historic football match that qualified Denmark to the FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa next year. GigaContent supplied the sharp live video images for a sports broadcast that proceeded flawlessly from the Parken stadium in Østerbro in Copenhagen.

GigaContent trasmitted live video images from the important game to viewers in both Denmark and Sweden: From the Parken stadium in Copenhagen GigaContent transmitted eleven hours of live video-content to TV2's main facility in Odense, while the Swedes had their content delivered via GigaContents connection to SBSTV's node in Mileparken in Skovlunde, west of Copenhagen.

According to TV2 Analysis, 1.488 million Danes watched the match on TV2 on Saturday evening. This is the highest audience for a football game in more than 5 years, says TV2 Analysis.

Technically perfect transmission

According to GigaContent's technical director Brian Slott, the transmission from the Parken stadium proceeded perfectly. GigaContent continuously monitors the quality of the connections, and in addition the happy Danish viewing audience was presented with the live video images a half a second faster than ever before!

- All of GigaContent's connections from the Parken stadium proceeded without uninterruption or errors on the lines during the entire transmission. We can confirm that from the monitoring data.
