Perfect test: GigaContent broadcasts Danish content to the
world
28. February 2011
GigaContent has taken another major technological stride towards
developing a Danish hub for the exchange of live content: During
the Champions League football match February 22 between FC
Copenhagen and Chelsea, the live footage was transmitted directly
from the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen to an English TV-provider via
GigaContent's network and a broadcast partner.
- We are very happy about the test, which proceeeded without
problems and in a high quality. Everyone has so far been happy with
the results. Our test proves that we soon will be able to offer
commercial services of this kind to foreign or danish broadcasters
and TV-stations wanting to exchange content. With yesterdays test
we have proven that the technology, the logistics, and the
cooperation between the service providers works perfectly, says
Brian Slott, CTO for GigaContent.
GigaContent sent a so-called "world feed" signal consisting of
neutral TV-footage, which can be used by individual broadcasters in
creating their own coverage of the match. GigaContent provided the
connection from the Parken Stadium to GigaContent's main facility
in Taastrup, while a service provider took care of the onwards
connection to London.
