Viasat ready to broadcast SAS Liga football via
GigaContent

Viasat
has chosen GigaContent's leading solutions to broadcast content in
high quality from the football matches of the SAS Liga. This means
that Viasat from today will use GigaContent's services to provide
football fans in Denmark with the country's most attractive package
of sports entertainment directly from stadiums across the
country.
- Giga Content has made it easier and simpler for us to produce
live coverage of the SAS Liga. We no longer need expensive
satellite connectivity and SNG vehicles, and for the first time we
have enough bandwidth for an HD signal on a fixed link from
GigaContent. This means that we are ready to send in full HD and
Dolby 5.1 digital sound as soon as it becomes relevant, says John
Sorensen, Technical Manager at Viasat.
With GigaContent's solution Viasat get unlimited access to SAS
Liga stadiums over two 1 G-bit connections between each stadium and
their headquarters in Amager south of Copenhagen. Meanwhile, Viasat
has of course been supplied with the necessary hardware capable of
transmitting the HD-signals and audio quickly and securely over
GigaContent's network. Viasat also produces live football
broadcasts for other Danish TV channels connected to GigaContent's
network.
GigaContent's network and services today cover all SAS Liga
stadiums. Soon the coverage will be extended to a number of the
country's main sports halls to including ice hockey rinks and
handball arenas.
